I have to say that I am happy that I read this book so that I can formulate my own opinions on the book, and I have to say this is one of the very few cases where I feel the movie was actually better then the book. Not the most recent movie which came out in 2002, but the old classic made in 1960 staring Rod Taylor. I think it pretty much took the book and brought it to life adding the elements which were missing for me, allowing me to connect more with the characters.

This was a quick and easy read, and I found that it reminded me a bit of Brave New World, in the way that both Wells and Huxley paint future generations. They imply that to be content and happy, humans will loose the ability to be free thinkers and that conflict will go away. Yet both authors also seem to think that total contentment is not all it's cracked up to be and almost put forth a "be careful what you wish for" type of message.
