What a fun read.
It is set in Victorian England where women had few rights. India Steele's father died. Women can not inherit and so he left his successful business to her finance, who promptly did not marry her and thus disinherited her. Added to that fact that the business in governed by the watchmaker's guild and, as a woman, she cannot be accepted as a watchmaker into the guild despite her skills. I found this as a suggestion through Hoopla and it was pretty cheeseball, and that audio book narrator was just not very good.
I found this as a suggestion through Hoopla and it was pretty cheeseball, and that audio book narrator was just not very good.
I found this an enjoyable book but it did jump from normality into magical prowess rather rapidly. However I liked both the MCs and the way they sparked off one another and I could certainly read more of the series
