Legends & Lattes felt like a warm hug. I would call it "cozy fantasy" which sometimes is just what you need.
Viv is an Orc who has decided that it was time for her to leave behind her warrior days and set down some roots. To have a fresh start in life. So what does she do? She opens a coffee shop. A gnomish invention she discovered along her travels. But here's the catch the city that she has decided to settle in has no idea what coffee is. Such a fun read: light, fluffy, cosy & sweet. Like the legend on the cover says, it's "high fantasy, low stakes, good company", & seems to have been just what I needed because I zoomed through it & enjoyed it very much.
All sorts of weird & wonderful creatures abound, & they all get sucked into Viv's orbit by the aroma & flavour of coffee & cakes, & friendship. Ohh! Reading about thatchocolate croissant Midnight Crescent made me drool.

Totally taken by surprise here! I saw the cover of this book on YouTube, was reminded of my D&D character (an orc who still adventures but runs a tavern with her friends), and immediately bought a copy. The story was so, so cozy and the characters were a delight. There's no wild intrigue or shocking twist to be found in this simple plot - just the same kind of warmth you feel when you wrap your hands around a cup of coffee. I'm so happy I stumbled upon this little treat!

I really liked this. It was faster paced than the prequel. But I found some things anticlimactic, such as with the magistrate and that stone fae showdown.
I still enjoyed the tranquil feel of this book and appreciated so many people trying to find their way with the coffee shop.
I will be sure to read more stories if they written for this series.

Update-I kept feeling like I missed something so I decided to read this one again, this time in print. It was much more enjoyable without the various character voices, definitely recommend reading vs listening for this one.
I don’t know, maybe I missed something or maybe it was the narrator’s (the author) voice on the audio but I just don’t get the hype. Maybe orc’s just aren’t my thing.
