I hadn't known the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Even if I had, I would've found this version enchanting. It's a retelling by Michael Morpurgo, illustrated by Michael Foreman, and it hits just the right balance of adventure, morality tale, and just plain fun, with a good dose of silliness thrown in for good measure.

Great translation. I expected the language to be very complicated but it was fluid except for a few old-time words here and there. Reading about a chaste and righteous god-fearing knight was refreshing, compared to the usual lust driven knights I've come across other times before. I also loved the Introduction by Priscilla Martin to this Wordsworth Edition; if I was confused about something on the story, I could go there and get it sorted out.
