This is not really a sequel to Blindness, but it definitely follows it in time and is located in the same intentionally unspecified place (which could be, but isn't, Portugal); and later in the book, some of the characters from Blindness make an important appearance. See my review of that book for my impressions of Saramago's style -- it is the same here, and had the same effect on me.
