So I don't tend to read much zombie fiction, that is mainly because the few I have attempted were less then amazing, or heck less less then amazing. Zombies per-say was never an area of the supernatural I was ever drawn towards. I was more of a vampire kinda gal, but this zombie book is unlike any I have actually read.

There was more then just killing zombies in this novel. It wasn't just about a fight for survival it's about relationships, relationships between family, friends. Right and wrong.

I almost didn't continue reading this because, in the beginning, I just didn't like the main character or being in his head. His perceptions of his world, and especially his older brother, were clearly wrong. I didn't like it. Then I decided to read just one more chapter, and finally the story started moving along. I didn't want to stop reading. I also really liked the older brother's ideas about zombies and how he treated them. The story got more and more intense as it went along. When I finish ...more

I loved this book. It would make such a great movie too (I hope it gets optioned).
I think the story would appeal to any reader, not just YA or zombie lovers, because it is a story about being human. It looks at zombies as humanely rather than bloodthirsty predators, which I found refreshing.
I will definitely read more books in the series.

There was too much foreshadowing in this book, so there really were no surprises. I don't want to give anything away for those who will be reading Rot & Ruin, so I'll just say that while I wanted to see how things turned out, overall the book was predicable. ...more

I'm a little late to the zombie part only to discover that I really didn't care to attend. It was a thought provoking story but the first quarter of the book was too much of a slog. ...more

One of the better zombie novels I have read. Not just blood and gore, but a good coming of age story added in. I am looking forward to reading the next volume.
