Our intrepid preternatural is back. Despite being hampered by the 'infant-inconvenience', Alexia is up to her neck in trouble - from vampires trying to kill her to saving the queen.
I enjoyed this installment better than the previous one, maybe because the other characters get more page time, not to mention, secrets from their pasts.
As usual, Carriger's prose is filled with wit and sarcasm, and everything reads better with a steaming cup of tea. ...more

I really enjoyed escaping into more adventures with Alexia. This time she was very pregnant, which made the infant inconvenience pretty inconvenient. Whether she is trying to defend herself from what a appears to be a zombie hedgehog, a husband with a feisty sex drive, or her nosy and quite annoying sister... she does it with many a witty comment and remarkable style.

I'm quite enjoying this charming series, and look forward to seeing what the final book has in store.
