The last book of this series and again we join Gemma in her discovery of self through her revelation of English socities, relationships, and magic.
I have to admit I find the series just okay however I thoroughly enjoyed the last half of this book. Lots of actions, things were just happening and I just had to read on. I'm glad Gemma found what it is she wants from life and grew to have the courage to go for it. ...more

I had to laugh when our main character and narrator, Gemma, is reading a book and says: "I curse authors who write such lengthy books when a few neat pages of prose would do." This quote is on page 429 of 819! Is Libba Bray poking fun at herself and her LENGTHY novel? Either way, she certainly made me chuckle because Gemma's thoughts echo my sentiments about this book. a perfect conclusion to the series. it's been a long time since a young adult series engrossed me to this degree; there should be more YA writers like libba bray, who merges gripping plot with real, flawed, relatable characters to make a set of books i sincerely couldn't put down (i finished the entire trilogy in about four days).
