I downloaded this book by mistake. And it turns out it is the second in a series, but I ploughed on. It's somewhat confusing, as clearly much of the dystopian world has been created and explained in the first book, but it's still ok. Tris is a strong female heroine, though I wish she hadn't gone on about something that happened in the first book so much. Probably realistic, given what she had to do. I believe I liked this book better than the first even though I was sometimes confused. We get a better look on each faction in this one and see that it isn't all black and white. The book also goes deeper into the character's emotions and feelings.

The first half was a little slow for me, but it was still great. The second half was much better. There was a ton of action in this book and I am glad that we got a lot of back stories to the characters. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

How delightful to read this book while riding the L towards the loop. If you liked the Hunger Games and live in Chicago, why haven't you started this trilogy?
