I am glad that someone recommended this series to me, and even more glad to have found the audio versions. The narrator is fantastic and I think it's his performance that is really making this an enjoyable series. He manages to do voices for different characters and different accents quite smoothly. This installment continues the world-building that started in the first book and makes the characters and their backgrounds more complete. I hope there's more magic in the next books in the series --

Peter Grant iks investigating the death of a jazz musician who has a vestigium of the son Body and Soul. He is also involved with the death of a masn who had his private parts eaten off. There also seems to be the beginning of an ongoing thread involving an evil magician who noone can remember his face. There was some carry over from the first book so I'd recommend reading the books in order. I like that Peter is developing in his magic and that we got to learn a bit more about Nightingale. This

The first one was amazing, this one decidedly less so. There were two huge things I hated about this one. *spoiler alert*
1. He sleeps with Simone. Why? He already knew she was a tramp who slept with another woman's fiance. Why on earth would anyone want to be involved with someone like that? Ugh.
2. Leslie magically does magic at the end! Look at how amazing she is! No. The reason I liked her before is because she was a perfect complement to Peter's skill set. He had his magic and out-of-the-box ...more

This is the second book in the Rivers of London series. In this book, Peter is investigating the mysterious deaths of Jazz Musicians. While the deaths appear to be of natural causes, Peter can sense the presence of magic and thinks there was more to it than heart attacks. This was a fun magical mystery that really brings London to life. Peter has a little more confidence than in the first book and it was nice seeing him find his place at the Folly. There is a lot of potential in the world of the

I'm really enjoying this series that's a mix of UF and police procedural. Peter is such a likeable narrator, very much a young person but very much an observant one too. This one gets a little closer to Peter's parents as it involves investigating the death of several jazz musicians. Looking forward very much to the next one.
