I would recommend reading Changesagain before starting this book. A few of the details in Changes are very important to the plot of Ghost Story. I didn't read it before beginning this one and I really wish I had. I may go back and read both of them again.
This is another good book by Butcher, but as the last books said - there are Changes occurring. Harry's dead and he has to figure out what he can do about that. The answer is little or nothing, so reading this book gets a little tedious as a hug ...more

It's no secret that I absolutely HATED the Dresden Files book previous to this. It was awful, and maybe the worst "book slog" I've ever gone through. But I hate not finishing a book.
I was extremely reluctant to begin this novel. My significant other assured me it was better than Changes, so I resigned myself to reading it.
Right off the bat, I *did* like it better. I felt like I was back to the old Harry Dresden solving mysteries (which is what I like about the series).

Reading this book you had to wonder if Jim Butcher was going through some kind of personal crisis, as Dresden has all kinds of internal dialog about the choices he made and he used the word "existential" at least a dozen times. Don't get me wrong, I certainly read books that make you think about life's rights and wrongs, but then I read a Harry Dresden book as mind candy.

I don't understand how these books can keep getting better and better. Isn't there going to be a point where Mr. Butcher's head can't even contain the amazing anymore and just explodes? It's.....impossible how much I love this series. How did I exist before reading these books? Butcher is definitely one of my desert island authors.

Slow to start, actually felt a little bored almost 1/2 way into this, which is disappointing 'cos I love this series. The end makes it worthwhile, dear readers.
