I'm that kid who grew up reading Harry Potter. I've read every book of the series at least 25 times. Or more. So, when you've finished the Deathly Hallows and you're left wanting more, with a void in your stomach the size of a crater, and you hear that, after 9 long years, there's going to be an 8th book, your expectations are definitely through the roof. Read the first sixty pages on release day and absolutely loved the direction this was taking, but now, having read the rest of the 250-300 pages in a sleepless binge, my thoughts are less effusive and more circumspect. On one hand, the story is indeed interesting, and makes for a good play, with the visual aids that theatre brings with it. On the other, the story does seem a bit rushed, and perhaps I would have invested more in the book if I'd grown to know the characters a bit better. At times,

It's Harry Potter. But it's not.
This is definitely not book 8. Also the paradoxes introduced by traveling through time is pretty difficult to read through. Anyhow, the characters are the same and the book is short. So it's quite possible to finish it easily without feeling regretful. ...more
