I'm not a big fan of science fiction but I loved this book. Gave me heart palpitations because I can think of nothing worse than being stuck alone on Mars, but Mark Watney's log entries were hilarious and had me laughing out loud several times.

There was a lot of science in this book (parts where I was like, skim? and parts where I went whoaaahhh!!) and a bunch of semi-funny jokes, but it all added up to my really wanting Mark Watney to live!
For years, people have wondered what life would be like on Mars and, for years, sci fi fanatics have speculated on the existence and look of Martians. Well now we have an answer. What happens if you are left behind for dead? How will you survive? In this story, you will discover the will to live and the human inclination to save. You'll laugh and be on pins and needles. Though highly technical, much if the science went above my head, it was an entertaining read. I can't wait to see it on film!

At first I wasn't sure I could finish this due to the layers of dirt (if you read the story, you will know what I mean), buy this was an absolutely wonderful story. I loved the characters, Mark was so positive, so daring and honest. Loved the sarcasm in the midst of the daily difficulties. Take the time to read this. I listened to it on Audible and it was a great book.
