What Members Thought
With such a gorgeous cover and interesting premise, I was so sad when I just didn't enjoy this one. I never connected with the Main character nor her romantic counter part. The world never felt flushed out and instead came in bits and pieces between long-winded stories that didn't feel relevant.

This was an entertaining fantasy. The book was magic when it was the two main characters, Amani and Jin and their adventures. It was less so when other side characters got involved. It became just another good enough YA fantasy by the end. But because how great it was for the first 2/3rds, I'm going to keep going.

It took me a while to get into this novel as it interwove Arabian mythology with cowboys spouting “I reckon” as they load their revolvers in saloons. How does that go together? Somehow, the author blends things together well, but its a little jarring to start.

This was a YA Trilogy I would highly recommend. The first two in the Trilogy would be great for upper Middle School. There is an intimate scene in the third book, but Ms. Hamilton handles it with great skill. The characters are alive and well done and I loved how Alwyn Hamilton handled the storytelling. I will definitely reread this Trilogy. Can't wait to see more works by Ms. Hamilton. Great Job. Even my husband felt it was creative and original.
