I honestly couldn't remember who was who half the time because I just didn't care! Nevertheless, I finished the book because I wanted to know what all of the buzz was about... and I do have to say that I admired Roth's willingness to fully commit to the characters. The ending was not a total surprise because she did a good job of setting the stage, not just in this book but in the other two books of the trilogy. ...more

How often is it that the last book in a series is always my least favorite - more often than I'd like. Still, once you start it's almost an obligation to finish it even if it ends on absolutely no positive notes for any of the characters (in my opinion). Hollywood is releasing a movie adaptation of the first book so I have to wonder if they make it through all three books will they change the ending of the third to make it more positive? ...more

What a realistic bittersweet ending to a poignant series! The fragile yet strong bonds between siblings, friends, and lovers was the highlight of the book.

Was pleased with the ending. It made it real rather than fairy tale. Would read more by this author.
