Asimov is my favorite writer, followed closely by Arthur C. Clarke. I knew I was going to like this book before I had even started it but my experience was even better than I first expected! This is the beggining of the Robot series and texts. So, if you intend to read Asimov's work this is where you should start. It gives you a wide view of how the robots evolved and interacted with society and all the problems related to that. It's composed of nine stories, all of them really clever, and by th ...more

Série de contos que basicamente conta a evolução dos robôs imaginados por Asimov através das memórias da Dra Susan Calvin a psicóloga especializada em robôs desde a fase em que são pouco mais que animais de estimação até o controle quase completo da civilização humana. Contos em geral curtos com um problema a ser solucionado que em geral brinca com as três leis da robótica estabelecidas logo no início.
Um pouco do que achei sobre cada um:

Asimov é conhecido por suas obras futuristas. Em Eu, robô, estão reunidos nove contos sobre robôs. No primeiro conto, o autor mostra como as máquinas surgiram, para auxiliar os humanos. Ao final, no nono conto, já os temos dominando o mundo. Ou seja, em cada contos explora - se a evolução tecnológica - e de poder - dos robôs.

It's a great book, one of the first ever SF I ever read. I guess i'm impressed by how AI is pictured in such tangible way, the events described in the book could actually happen in some near future. ...more
