My opinion didn't change. Still an amazing work.
I'll just add that this time I enjoyed more the human parts. The conflict of them needing a world, specially for those ship-born generations, against the will to survive of the spiders felt much better this time around.
As over these years I also played more space related games, including managing crews, constant repairing stuff, limited resources, and surviving around, or even colonist related games, and that aspect of the story ...more

This was a truly very interesting book, but a little too long for me. I am most drawn to books because of the characters, and I think it says a lot that the most compelling characters in here are the spiders. I felt for them things I didn't feel at all for all the humans facing eminent death and destruction. The plot could also have been a lot tighter, but I do think people who love world building will be dazzled by this one.
I was ready to give it 2 stars, but then the ending! So beaut ...more
