I find myself wanting to like this book desperately, but I don't know what to think. Don't get me wrong: This Is How You Lose the Time War has beautiful prose and romance, fascinating worldbuilding and a satisfactory ending, but ultimately I don't think it agrees with my brain or the way I read stuff.

I didn't get the romantic part at all but I loved the concept, specially how alien the two protagonists could feel at times.
Blue being part of Garden, and herself such a weird being, specially it's so plant related. Sometimes she's even a six legged wolf. Red seemed more cyborg, and wished she had felt as alien as Blue.
But the thing that really held me was how they were able to transmit their messages. That was very creative, and felt really alien. Storing letters or their contents in parts of ...more

Quando dizemos que o amor pode vencer todos os obstáculos, pode parecer água com açúcar. Ou clichê. Mas, um sentimento como esse que deixa nosso coração faminto pode nos levar a realizar feitos inacreditáveis. I'm not sure it is intended to, but I would definitely classify this as "New Weird SciFi". Very poetic and incredibly nonsensical in the beginning, this book almost lost me early on. But since it's so short, I kept at it and was rewarded. When the main characters began to interact, some sort of magic happened.
