'Nischal' is book nine in Bailey Bradford's exciting paranormal series 'Leopard's Spots'. This installment takes a different course than all the previous ones as it steps away from the families in Colorado and Texas. This book introduces new, never before seen, characters and sets the stage for future works. It was wonderful to watch the series veer off onto a detour and meet new people.

Nischal and his brother, Sabin, are snow leopard shifters captured by Suraj in their leopard form. This book introduces new, never before seen, characters and sets the stage for future works. It was wonderful to watch the series veer off onto a detour and meet new people.

Nischal and his brother, Sabin, are snow leopard shifters captured by Suraj in their leopard form. Kept sedated for docility, the drugs also prevent them from shifting, thus Suraj has no idea that the two beautiful leopards in his disgusting little traveling carnival show are really shifters too weak to become human again. Starving and half dead, Nischal senses something from a man who comes to question Suraj about the "organization" Suraj works for to protect the leopards in Nepal. In trying to help, Nischal becomes separated from his brother and left on his own. Once he manages to shift, he sets off to rescue his brother and make sure Preston is okay.

Preston has spent the past fifteen months trying to find his twin brother, Paul, who disappeared. His research has led him to follow Suraj's traveling show in hopes of getting the opportunity to interrogate the man. When it goes belly up and Suraj recognizes Preston, the leopards seem to be helping Preston get away, until the FBI show up, tranquilize one cat, and the other gets away. Imagine Preston's surprise when he discovers a stranger in his motel room who tells him they are mates, and then shifts into the beautiful snow leopard that got away. Preston faints. *snort*

After rescuing Sabin, Nischal and Preston head away from the area, hoping the man who seemed different to Nischal at the vet clinic where he rescued Sabin isn't following them. Turns out the guy they think is following them is Cliff, whom we met in the last installment, a wolf shifter who seems to be not all there mentally, but who also appears to turn up in odd places to help shifters. Cliff gives them an address in Colorado where they can find a family of snow leopards to help them out. Turns out this story didn't step that far away from the families, after all. *smiles*

The FBI manages to rescue Preston's brother, Paul, from the man who had kept him as a slave for the last year. Turns out, once the brothers were alone and Preston revealed the truth about Nischal and Sabin, the man who bought and owned Paul was a shifter as were his friends. Seems they enjoyed owning humans as slaves. Ugh. Of course, the author has now set the stage for the next installment and I'm most definitely looking forward to it. This was a great addition to the series and I'm interested to see more of the strange Cliff, and the human slavery ring. With Preston, Nischal, Sabin, and Paul all living in Colorado, life will be getting more interesting.
