Wow. I adore the TV show True Blood but somehow, never got around to reading this.
What was I waiting for?!
Devoured it in three days. Housework? Kids? what are those and who cares?! I just could not put this one down. It is different enough from the TV show that I didn't feel as though anything was spoiled. Sookie, as a character, is much funnier in print than on the small screen. I just love her internal dialogue, and her relationship with Bill is sweet and scary and breathtakingly hot without b ...more

What a fun book! I was underestimating this book as a trashy vamp read, Who knows maybe that is what it is. LOL! I guess I got sucked(literally)into this. (He-He) There were some things I thought were out of style that made me cringe: Banana clips,Scrunches for the hair EWW! I guess That seemed out of style knowing this book came out in 2001. I want to hold a sacred burning of BANANA CLIPS!!! I thought living in the middle of nowhere like I do(NEBRASKA)that I could accept these style gags, NOPE.

I enjoyed the first book in this much hyped series. I genuinely like Sookie, though she is remarkably innocent. This is definitely a light read, a great summer fun book. I can't help but compare it to Christopher Moore's Love Story series, which I believe had better character development. But I look forward to reading more about Sookie and her adventures...
