Geekerella makes for cute, ok contemporary read and I liked how centred on fandom it was, but this book didn't really work for me. It was cheesy, like a lot. And not really in a good way, but I guess I should've known that right after reading the title. It also kind of reads l ...more

Contemporary na motivy Popeluchy nebo celebrita/normal holka jsem četla už hodně a ve výsledku jsou všechny valstně stejné. Geekerellu jsem ale zhltla během jednoho odpoledne, pobrečela si a ještě byla příjemně překvapená. Víte, co od toho čekat, ale velkým plusem je celé to prostředí fandomu, které není přeplácané a v kombinaci s Popelkou je to moc fajn. Plus ty narážky na Doctora Who a Star Wars! Elle i Darien jsou sympaťáci, stejně jako Sage a Cal (a Ellin mrtvej taťka taky!). A je tam cospla

Pokud jste četli knihu Cinder & Ella od Kelly Oram, tak těžko říct, co si o této knize budete myslet. Ono je to totiž fakt hodně podobné, v některých věcech skoro stejné. Takže asi záleží na tom, jak moc si tu knížku od Kelly pamatujete. Avšak tady najdete mnohem víc narážek na všemožné fandomy, které tedy autorka do knihy vpletla naprosto skvěle a překvapivě přirozeně. Že by to skutečný člověk takhle fakt řekl. Osobně mi největší radost udělaly narážky na Doctora Who. :D

So... there it is. I finally read Geekerella! Unfortunately, I may have been just a tad bit too excited for this one, because in the end, it was a little... less... than I expected it to be?
I'm not even sure what is my problem, to be honest, because it was a nice story full of nice messages, and I did enjoy it. But I guess that after all those excited reviews, I probably just expected something explosive. Instead I got what I usually get with teen romances. Or maybe I just wasn't that much i ...more

Miluju to!!! Retellingy jsou mým oblíbeným žánrem a ani u Geekerelly tomu nebylo jinak. Už ten název je boží a to, co je uvnitř je ještě lepší. Přesně takovou cute contemporary ve stylu Popelky jsem na začátek školy potřebovala. Elle byla fakt typická popelkovská Popelka a Darian aka prince Charming zase láska na první pohled. I wanted something light and cute, and it is exactly what I got from this book. I hoped it will cure my reading slump, but still it took me 2 weeks to finish this.
