Miluju X-Meny a superhrdiny, takže jsem přirozeně nadšená i z nové Meyerové. Renegades byla parádní jízda od začátku do konce. Renegades se sice prezentují jako klaďasové, během knihy ale vlastně nevíte... jsou doopravdy tak hodní nebo spíš společnost ubíjejí a Anarchistům akorát křivdí?
Jedna hvězdička dolů za nedostatek romance - bylo to strašně cute a tak, ale já jsem na to prostě čekala celou knihu! Navíc se mi Heartless líbila pořád o chlup víc. Ale co já vím, třeba to dvojka dožene! Měsíčn ...more

So... This was kind of disappointing and I say that as a HUGE Marissa Meyer fan. I loved The Lunar Chronicles and even Heartless! So what was my problem with this one?
Thankfully it was as always written really well, so I was able to get through it rather quickly. Marissa can write, that's for sure.
However the other things... Gatlon City is like a version of Gotham and it's history. Really, just think about it! Gatlon is cut off from the rest of the world just like Gotham. There was chaos, crimin ...more

Kdyz jsem v srpnu tuhle knizlu rozecetla, byla jsem nadsena. A pak to postupne opadalo a opadalo a opadalo... Az jsem ji horko tezko docetla. No, potvrzuje to to, ze nemam moc rada superhrdiny. A ze to Meyerovy mnohem vic slo v Mesicnich kronikach. No co, na dalsi dily stejne dojde 🙂

OK, so this book has me so conflicted over the rating. But I try to summarize my thoughts into somewhat cohesive format.

First off, things I liked:
- Nova - I kinda liked her, she was sassy, sometimes the only one with brain and also like she was one of the few people, who were down to earth, not like the pompous superheroes at the top of HQ. She was one of the fre prodigies that didn't have a "strong" power, she wasn't super fast or strong or couldn't bring drawings to life, but still she manag OK, so this book has me so conflicted over the rating. But I try to summarize my thoughts into somewhat cohesive format.

First off, things I liked:
- Nova - I kinda liked her, she was sassy, sometimes the only one with brain and also like she was one of the few people, who were down to earth, not like the pompous superheroes at the top of HQ. - oh, maybe the style of writing. It's Marissa Meyer after all and her books are always well written.

- plus she did manage to think of so many extra super powers. There were a lot of gifted characters and most of them had cool and awesome powers that you haven't heard of so props for that. At least for me, that would be the most challenging thing while writing this type of book.

Aaaaaand let's go to the things I didn't like:
- all the Renegade HQ shit. So basically there's this organization with some super old and powerful super heroes on top that acts as police and they call themselves Renegades and act like they try to protect people in the city but you don't see them do anything. The only action you see is made by a group of teenage Renegades trying to act like big bosses while being all innocent and harmless. They don't even know how to act during the fight properly. It's literally like small kids playing pretend. I beg your pardon, what? This is supposed to be the big force that keeps the citizens protected? I don't believe it. And the truly big bosses come only when all hell breaks down. They come after the party is over. I don't believe it. The whole concept was in my opinion poorly made and it could be made much better which is shame.

- another thing I didn't like is how they all talk about this Age of Anarchy and how it was such a dark time and how buildings were destroyed and people were killed and blah blah blah but does anyone properly explains, what really happens? No, why would they? It's not I like I need it to have better understanding of the story or anything.

- Adrian. Sorry if any of you loved him, but I just can't stand him. He's such a naive, innocent and dreamy boy... the only time I liked him, was (view spoiler) And omg how shy was he around Nova and it just didn't suit me.

- also some of the humourus phrases were just cringey - (view spoiler)

So yeah, it was a rollercoaster. Not to mention it was so slowpaced for an action type book. One would await that story about people with super powers would be fast paced, action packed, funny and gripping... you know, something like the marvel movies, but not entirely because those get tiring as well. Some nice middle ground with teenage characters. But no, this was slow, boring, most of the times I didn't really know what was the purpose of the story of what kind of aim Nova had because there were discussing several topics and it got me confused. Although I feel like that was made because of the ending. Yeah, it was messy but speaking of the ending, that was briliant, because we got the answers to at least two questions that were constant throughout the whole story which, I mean that's good right? But in all honesty, the ending was really good and I wasn't expecting it and that's why I'm mad because how can the author of The Lunar Chronicles which is amazing series write this boring super hero book and then end it so amazingly. It just makes me confused. So do I like it or not? How do I rate it? Goddamit. I was certain I don't want to read the second book, I wanted to DNF this book but now I'm glad I didn't do it and I will read the second book. ...more

Ne ze by to bylo uplne spatny, to se rict neda. Ale. Zezacatku me to hodne chytlo, cetlo se to dobre a bylo to fakt super. Kolem pulky me to zaclo ale strasne nudit a mesic mi lezela knizka v polici nez jsem dokopala ji docist. Pokracovani si prectu, ale zas tak bozsky to nebylo. Namet byl ale prinejmensim zajimavy. Tri a pul hvezdicky.

+ celou dobu jsem čekala, kdy se to v Nově zlomí a přidá se na stranu renegátů
+ celkem propletený děj s mnoha zvraty
