This story was told from Selene's point of view. She and her brother Alexander seemed older than 12 years but that might be due to their early maturity and extensive education. The 1st half of the book was very slow as the twins adapted to their parents death and their new life in Rome. Interestingly enough, in a "man's" world, Selene was the more rebellious of the two and she got away with it. Perhaps some influence from her Queen mother.
