Shelves: crime, thriller, suspense, favorite

Found this recommendation on Goodreads. Very impressive debut novel--much better than some other seasoned authors that I am currently reading. It was heart-wrenching, yet strangely uplifting. As a parent, I was almost afraid to read it, but quite glad I did. Once I got over the darkness of the topic, the death of a young girls, I found this story to be compelling and absolutely breath-taking. This debut book rivals some of the best in the suspense/ thriller genre. It definitely doesn't read like a first novel. I was captivated from the beginning by the colorful characters and was clinging to the edge of my seat till the very end. I could not put it down, and when I tried I caught myself still thinking about it. Satisfied with the ending, I was sad that the story was over. I felt connected to these characters and longed for more. A must read!!! He is the new, young Richard Castle.

Once I started reading this book I was completely captivated from beginning to end and I didn't want to put it down until I finished it. It was well written and I liked that I was able to visualize each scene, person, & place in my head as I was reading it. This would make a great movie! I definitely recommend this book for other thriller suspense readers.

This was a fantastic book. The story was well written and very engaging. The story grabbed right from the beginning and kept you wanting to read on to find out what happens next. The characters were easy to relate to. The only thing I didn't like was the death of Caroline, but my heart went out to the parents. The ending was well suited to the story. I would definitely like to tell my friends to read it and to reread it myself. I will look for more works from this author. ...more
