What Members Thought

The first chapter, largely on the visual hallucinations associated with conditions like macular degeneration, is full of cracking-good anecdotes and Sack's characteristic chatty footnotes. It made one almost wish for some visual disability that would cause richly-dressed children and women with elaborate hair to appear in one's bedroom. Later chapters feel as if Sacks is dutifully marching through his assignment, and lack the same kind of narrative detail. I recommend finding this at the library
