This book is like…if Nancy Drew, The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks, Carmen Sandiego, Ocean’s 11, and Gossip Girl all hooked up and had this really fun book baby.

Kat has grown up in a family of thieves. When she cons her way into boarding school, she is trying to leave that life behind and start fresh. However, when her father is in trouble, Kat finds herself out of retirement and back into the "family business."

A fun story! I had to go back and reread sections sometimes, though, because inferences were an important part in the story. If you weren't making certain connections along the way, you suddenly found yourself lost as to what had just happened.

I love the way Ally Carter's mind works. First and foremost, this is a book about family. Kat was born into a family of high-profile thieves, but she's left The Life behind for a new life at boarding school...until she finds out that her father is suspected in a gigantic art heist that he had nothing to do with. Kat then assembles a motley crew of teeangers to get the paintings back and save her father. This audiobook was really well done and I hope to hear more from Kat someday.

What a fun story. I really enjoyed the family the author created, and that "good bad guy" thread through the novel. It was an enjoyable, quick read. ...more

Book #1 for my 2013 YALSA Hub challenge. Like Carter's Gallagher Girls books, this is a fun adventure with a smart, capable heroine. ...more

Teens are so lucky to have Ally Carter and her books! If I had read her books as a teen, I might have grown-up to be a spy or a international art thief instead of a librarian. Fans of Carter's Gallagher Girls series will not be disappointed in this new but unrelated book about a girl who is raised in but wants to leave the "family business." ...more

I was very disgruntled upon starting the book and finding out that it was NOT a Gallagher Girls novel like I had thought. BUT I kept reading and REALLY enjoyed it. The plot is a little far-fetched and there isn't much depth to the characters but it is fun, fun, fun! Nothing wrong with that. ...more

I remember liking this when it first came out (although I haven't read any of the sequels) and I needed numbers for the 2013 YALSA challenge so I reread it. ...more
