It's wonderful and refreshing to see a talented author playing with narrative conventions within a constrained genre like Epic Fantasy. I wouldn't have expected second-person narration to work so well in a novel of this scope, but by casting one of the three viewpoints in that voice Jemisin deftly navigates a fascinating psychological profile. Summary: Great science fiction, very original concept, some really interesting characters, but when it comes down to it power corrupts, and it does, the series is aptly named

Plotline: The plot is intrinsically linked with the premise. Both have surprises, twists a and inevitably doom.

Premise:Well worth reading for the premise alone, great concept.

Writing: Interesting style that seems to work really well. Great characterizations.

Ending: Oh yes and more to come I suspect ...

Pace: Never a dull mome ...more
