i almost feel like goodreads needs a rating that says "pretty good, but not for me." that sums this one up perfectly for me. the 11-18 year old version of myself would've given this one 4-5 stars, but the boring, know-it-all 30 something in me just couldn't get into this one. i doubt that i'll read any more of the trilogy but i am looking forward to seeing the movie on dvd

I still think Juice from Sons of Anarchy would be a better Four than who they got to play Four. The guy cast looks like a "pretty boy" ...not rough and tough like Four is supposed to be. But.. i guess we'll see when the movie comes out.. maybe hes a really good actor and can pull off the Four role. ...more

I would give Divergent an extra half star if I could, so 2.5 is my rating, because it became tolerable about half way through and likable toward the end. Still, I can't quite say that it ever completely overcame its shortcomings.
To put it bluntly, the plot was ridiculous. There was absolutely nothing believable about the dystopian world the author created. In fact, the whole premise was so far fetched that I'd need to remove 60% of my brain cells in order to force my logical mind to accept it. ...more
