I'm not a huge chick-lit fan, but I was drawn to this book because it's also categorized as mystery. My expectation was a "whodunit" situation, so I was a little annoyed that the "it" wasn't revealed until the very end of the book. I didn't exactly love this unique approach to mystery. Instead of building suspense around who committed the crime, 90% of the book is about waiting for the crime to happen. Big Little Lies discusses the various secrets that women keep hidden from the people around them. It also displays a group of women’s response to when those secrets are revealed. A murder has occurred at the elementary school but no one will admit to seeing anything. The book details all the events that led up to the trivia night murder. Great book! Was a great mix of soap opera, suburban drama, humor, and understanding of the human psyche. It also was a mystery. I had guessed part of the ending but not all of it.
