THIS WAS JUST SO CUTE ??? AND NOW I AM SAD BECAUSE I WANT MORE ???

Nick and Charlie go to the same all boy-school but are in different years. When they finally meet, they instantly click and become great friends. Nick helps Charlie with his rugby and Charlie helps Nick to see the world a little differently.

As cute as promised! I liked the art a lot, but the story was also captivating. I wish things would have been more developed, but there is always volume two to go to. I'm glad there are cute stories like that. Charlie seems like such a scared little bean. Although he came out, it's not like everything is easy now. A super sweet story about Nick and Charlie's friendship that turns into something more. This is the first of three volumes, so it kind of leaves you hanging with Nick sort of coming to a realization, but not quite sure what to do with it. Apparently, the author wrote a novel (her debut YA novel) about Nick's older sister Tori (Solitaire), and Charlie and Nick were in it as boyfriends, so these three volumes are sort of a prequel/backstory for that setting. I loved the artwork and the fr 4.5 stars

June 2022 reread. It's been a year since I first discovered this wonderful series and I just recently binged the Netflix series and realized just how much I missed Charlie and Nick, so it's time to do a reread of the graphic novels. Some thoughts:

* Can they be any cuter?!
* This is even better the second time around
* I was surprised at how well the Netflix series follows the graphic novel
* This volume ends the morning after Henry's birthday party, so if my memory is correct, the first season in the Netflix series covers the first two volumes
* They cast the actors amazingly well and the chemistry between Joe Locke and Kit Connor is exactly what you see on the pages. Can they be any cuter?!
* I can't believe how well the actress for Tori matches what I see in the pages.
* I didn't remember some of the things the Rugby coach said in the graphic novel, but now I see that they took her words from the graphic novel as well.
* Tao seemed angrier in the series than in the graphic novels. In the graphic novels, he seemed much more concerned about Charlie's well-being as the primary motivation to warn him to be careful. But they ultimately did a good job with him in the Netflix series and they cast him well.
* Honestly, the whole cast was wonderful and really reflected the novels well. I can't wait for future seasons!
* After reading these last year and then watching the series, I want to buy this entire series, but it seems to be back ordered everywhere I look, so I'll have to give it a few months, I think. But I'm kind of waiting for the fifth one and wondering if I can get a boxed set. We shall see. ...more

I recently watched the Netflix adaptation of this graphic novel and couldn't stop myself from grinning the entire time. I can't remember the last time I experienced such a feel-good story, if there ever was another before this. And it definitely was an experience. I was invested from the first episode and loved being immersed in this world with Nick and Charlie. Something like four hours later, with a lot of laughter and happy tears sandwiched between beginning and end, I was absolutely smitten. ...more

A perfectly adorable interlude between my Adelaide Writers’ Week reads, so much so that I am in agony waiting for the next volume. A gentle m/m story of new friends, turning into a crush, and possibly becoming something more.

This was so freaking adorable!?
The drawing style is as cute as the story itself. The whole story is in black and white which I wasn't necessary expecting but it was not a bad thing either.

It thought this book would have a definite ending but nope, so now I'll have to buy volume 2 eventually! ...more
