Darkly intriguing and fancifully spooky.

One can't possibly claim the title of this book isn't fitting...or exceedingly literal. >.> The story does indeed revolve around a graveyard and its tenants. Now it's official: Neil Gaiman is on my direct-to-buy list. As in, the authors whose books I buy without downloading the sample, without checking the reviews, without reading the summary, if the fancy strikes me.
"The Graveyard Book" is wonderful. I can't believe I haven't read it before. I'm already going into good book withdrawal...

I was told this would be creepy but it wasn't. It was super adorable and made me want to hug people, especially Silas who is not the kind of person you hug.

BUT there needed to be more illustrations. There were quite a few at the beginning and then they sort of just dwindled away, much to my disappointment. And there were definitely moments when there should have been an illustration, but oh well.

One of my best memories of 2008, was traveling to Comic Con in NY and having a chance to hear Neil Gaiman read from this book for hours. I was so excited when it won the Newbery!
