My second read and it was just as amazing this time around. I just love this series so much but I realized I never read the last one so I’m reading this so I can read the other two and finally know how this ends.

Still love Joshua and Amelia just as fiercely as before. Very much love their love story.

2011 read:

The first time I saw this book a few months ago, I wanted it so bad! The cover just screamed at me. You can tell alot about a book just by looking at it. All I can say at this point is....WOW! This is an amazing book! It is actually the first of a new trilogy and the debut novel by Tara Hudson. What an awesome first book! I was hesitant to read this at first. But after hearing nothing but great things, I decided to give it a chance. Actually I gave it a chance the moment I saw at Barnes&Noble that Tara is going to be in town late August! Yay, so excited to meet her!! So I bought it and started it that night. The moment I picked it up, I had a hard time putting it down. It was so wonderful! So let's get on with the review.

This is a story about an 18 year old girl Amelia who has recurring nightmares where she wakes up everytime in a cemetary after drowning in the river. She is not sure why but the nightmares are similar and very frightening. She has no idea who she is but one thing that is certain is.....she's dead. She can't feel anything and no one can see or hear her. Her past is a blur and she doesn't know the story behind her death. Everything changes when she saves Joshua Mayhew from drowning in the same river. But he actually dies for a few min before she "saves" him. And the strange thing is, he can actually see her. So when he gets carried away by the ambulance, he tells her to call him Joshua. So after everybody leaves from the accident, she is left alone wondering why he is the only one that can see her when no one else can.

Finally, after he is better and released from the hospital he goes searching for her by the river. And there he finds her. Discovering that he is the only person that knows of her existance he tries to put the pieces together. Accepting Amelia for what she is, he starts falling hard for her. Afterall, she did save him. Their connection increases with so much intensity and passion also discovering that when he touches her, she can feel every sense and emotion that was lost for so many years shocking them both. But in a good way. The more time they spend together, the more her past starts to unravel causing flashbacks. She even learns about her death and her family she once had. Their strange but beautiful love story blossoms and makes you want more. Who doesn't love romance, even if it's with a ghost?

The problem they run into is Joshua's grandmother can see Amelia too and she feels threatened by her presence. So she and her friends want to exorcise her. But she is mistaking Amelia for Eli who is the real problem. He is another spirit, an evil one who haunts the bridge at the river where bad things happen. And he wants Amelia to help him gather souls to bring them back to the Netherworld to be kept under his control. Trying to fight evil and stay with Joshua, Amelia also saves Joshua's sister Jillian from being Eli's newest victim in his sick, twisted game. It's just hard to do everything when she can't really touch anything but Joshua. No matter what they face, Joshua and Amelia always give you hope during their impossible but magical love quest. Can they survive this long, heartbreaking and complicated journey? Just go buy the book and read it for yourself!

Tara Hudson really did a fantastic job! I don't really like ghost stories. I'll be the first to admit, they scare me. But this was unlike any other. I was intrigued and never felt scared. I was hooked from the first page! The characters were really developing so well. And since this is a first of a trilogy, sometimes they are kind of boring and slow. This was anything but.....it was intense edge-of-your-seat action mixed with an emotionally beautiful forbidden love story that captivated hearts of many readers. After reading it, I could see why. You can't help falling for Joshua, he melted your heart and gave you goosebumps with his words and tenderness. Thankfully, Tara did not end this book with a cliffhanger! I hate those endings, that make you want to throw your book at the wall. But I am so eager to see what happens next with our beloved couple. I recommend this book to all readers! I have so many mixed feelings about this book. Don't get me wrong I LOVED it.

It was addicting, captivating and downright adorable at times. But I couldn't shake this feeling that it can't possibly end well, I'm trying to enjoy Amelia and Joshua, but I'm so paranoid I'll eventually hate the ending.

Anyway for this book anyhow, it was fantastic. I LOVED Joshua, absolutely loved him from the second he talked to Amelia!

I loved Amelia as well, she was SUCH an interesting character.

I actually like where this story is going. It was a little slow to start, but it did pick up. I really like and want to know more about that crazy, old lady Ruth. She and her group of sisters seemed out of this world. Witches who go to a Baptist church. Who knew? lol. I really like Joshua. He was such a great guy - total sweetheart. Amelia was so lost and just wandering because she didn't remember or talk to anyone. Interesting how Eli just showed up after Amelia tried to rescue Josh. I l ...more
