This is a very pretty book. And it builds in a particular way. And then about two-thirds of the book in, it goes completely off the rails. It felt like the author just took the wrong path. And I don't think it's a matter of whether it is a happy or unhappy ending. I just didn't believe it. Otherwise the world of this book and the characters in the village rang true. Sure we could have seen more into people's heads but it really wasn't necessary. But I kind of wish I had stopped without finishing ...more
