I'm not a book snob, or a zombie book snob either, for that matter, but there is something to be said for plot, pacing, and general proofreading. "Zournal #1-It All Started" is the play-by-play account of the first days of the zombie outbreak, as told in the journal of our young narrator. I should have known I would not enjoy the humor of this book when the author likened it to that of Mark Tufo's, another zombie author whose work I do not enjoy. Could benefit from a proofreader, but the story is fast paced and interesting enough that I started the second volume immediately after finishing the first. I admit I'm not picky about my zombie stories and will read volume after volume so long as the story is engaging, and this one certainly is. I like that it's presented as a retelling of events in a journal. If you do pick up this book, be aware that it takes a while for the author to hit his stride.
