What Members Thought

Really, the only thing preventing this from 4 stars is it's relatively lightweight book and the ending felt rushed, but nothing really bad with that either. Quick read, entertaining, in diary format, with a likeable smart protagonist. He references Robinson Crusoe and it has that feel--he never gets close enough to other survivors to actually speak with any, but manages to distract hordes enough for people to get away, which was a nice touch I think. Felt more realistic than most books--maybe be

I was expecting a standard zombie novel but this was a little different; and better. I like Z novels because I like to reflect on how people survive when their world is destroyed, and this is all about the survival. It's not the weapon-porn that I find so tedious, it's not all about breathtaking chases and miraculous escapes. Apocalyptic story with zombies. Sounds trashy but in reality was quite good, I had trouble putting it down. Not so much about the zombies but about one man's struggle to survive a city taken over by them. There are several more books in this series

I like zombie and apocalyptic books, and although this one held my interest, I'm not sure if I'll continue the series. It reminded me a bit of Cast Away with Tom Hanks, as most of the movie we are just watching Tom, and with London we are solely with Bill. Well, I guess it's his journal after all. It definitely was gripping at times and I was nervous for the character. I don't know, maybe I will pick up the second book. :)
