I thought it was about time I saw what all the fuss was about with this book, after hearing it referenced so many times by other authors (Stephen King) and film directors (George A. Romero) as inspiration for their own work.

It's a short book and I found myself literally plowing right through it in a few sittings. I won't ruin it for you but I found myself almost in tears at one point where our lonely protagonist tries to befriend a stray dog.

A nice little quick read and a good entry into Matheso

I picked up I Am Legend because I heard they're remaking the movie (previously made as Omega Man with Charleton Heston) with Will Smith in a more faithful adaptation due later this year. The story is a sort of classic end-of-the-world zombie scenario, except with vampires instead of zombies. It offers a great twist on the sole-human-survivor theme.

I don't normally enjoy vampire tales; I Am Legend is a striking exception. From all accounts, this book bears NO resemblance to Will Smith's santized film by the same title. Neville is a man of passions, confusion, and single-mindedness, attempting to fight off the way of the new world. I listened to this on audiobook, and it was spectacular, but the end was the real payoff to the whole story. ...more

This book was AWESOME!!! The movie does not do it justice. And the other stories within the book that he wrote? Chillingly beautiful! Read this book before the Bacalli Vampirus gets us all!!!

I really enjoyed the actual I am Legend story. In the edition I read it had several other stories after I am Legend. I did not enjoy the other short stories included in the book though.
