Finished reading this for the third time. Going to try to go through the entire series again in 2016. Still 3 stars.

Reviewed to death, The Gunslinger is basically a long prologue to the Dark Tower series. There are moments of action, good conversation, etc, but whole parts of the book are irrelevant to the rest of the series (e.g. Tull). You read this because you are going to read the rest, and need to learn the whos and wheres and whens.
