I hesitate to say that a dystopian adventure is "fun", but this was an enjoyable, action-filled look back at a machine rebellion (a la Stephen King's interesting short story "Trucks" which became the abysmal Emilio Estevez vehicle (ha, "vehicle") "Maximum Overdrive) and the humans who fought back. This type of adventure story is normally not my thing, but I like it when it's done well, as here, through flashback and multiple POVs. If you enjoyed World War Z (the BOOK - I haven't seen the movie),

Let me say that this was almost an exact ripoff of World War Z. The first person narrative of each chapter telling their own version of what happend during the war with the robots is almost a spot on duplicate of Max Brooks book only not with zombies.
Archos is the robot that becomes "aware" and over time takes over all of our robtic devices that the human race has come to depend on. He hacks into the network all over the world as the AI turns against the humans and destroys most of them. The st ...more

Four and a half stars.
I've seen this described as World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War but with robots. I can see why people make the comparison. The narrative structure is similar, although not exactly the same.
World War Z has stories from all over the world whereas Robopocalypse takes place almost entirely in the United States except for a few chapters in Afghanistan.

More like 3.5 stars. It's an oral history so it's very reminiscent of World War Z. In fact it's so reminiscent I had to stop myself from comparing the two. This is no WWZ. I really didn't care much about the characters, and some were even painfully grating. I also didn't really get how it's supposed to be one guy retelling people's accounts and yet the chapters were in first person. I almost wish I hadn't read WWZ before reading this, I probably would've enjoyed it much more. WWZ's chapters coul

It's likeWorld War Z - but with Robots! I liked the depiction of how robots will operate in the near future, but was less convinced by the evil AI. It was a little more violent than I was in the mood for, but that's what I get for reading something with "pocalypse" in the title.

Great novel, that spans pre-apocalypse and post. It is just like World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, but replaces the zombies with robots. Lots more to be told from the stories in this book. I hope there are spin offs.
