I spotted this book via goodreads. I really like the recommendations they do here on the basis of what you're reading. I think I was reading 'Sleepless', when this book was recommended. A book which will probably never be in the bookstores in Europe, so got it online, being curious by the story outline I got here. A weird apocalyptic story, cool out-of-the-box story too. Josef Horkai has been awoken from storage after thirty years to aid the community. Tidy little post-apocalyptic nightmarish road novel. I was thinking it’s like The Road by McCarthy but it’s actually a horrible Groundhog Day scenario. Worth two hours of my time.

It was a quick read and didn't actively offend my sensibilities of storytelling. ...more

Twitter review: Brian Evenson's Immobility is bleak but compelling, with echoes of Canticle for Leibowitz, I Am Legend, & The Road. (More may come later.) ...more
