[close] This is a story of a man's life, Mr. Bellman. Mr. Bellman is a self-made, very successful businessman until an epidemic wipes out most of his family - his wife and three of his four children. In despair, in a cemetery, he meets Mr. Black, who gives him an idea for a new business venture: provide everything people in mourning need - caskets, stationary, mourning clothes, etc. His business thrives and makes a great deal of money but he never sees Mr. Black again. Mr. Bellman is obsessed with business and loses sight of the important things in life. Eventually his day of reckoning comes, when he meets Mr. Black again.
