The Last Runaway is the story of Honor Bright who moves to Ohio from England in the mid 1800's and ends up on her own when her beloved sister dies from yellow fever. Overall, it's a good story, focusing on the Quaker community and the Underground Railroad, which runs through the town. Honor feels it is her obligation to help the runaway slaves because Quakers don't believe in slavery, yet when she does, she finds that her husband's family disagree with her actions. I really wanted to love this book, but found myself unable to connect with these characters as much as those portrayed in some of her other books. That being said, it was a revealing story, heartbreaking in some aspects and beautifully crafted.
