If you don't love this book, I'm not sure we can be friends. I first read it 18 years ago and now I've read it again in May 2009. It is even better on second reading. As soon as I read the first page again, I literally let out a sigh of contentment. This is beauty.

I read this book so many years ago that it is a little hazy in my mind. One of the better war novels that I have read. I felt sympathetic towards the characters and the situations that they found themselves in during these tumultuous times.
