This was really more suspenseful than some of the Joanna Brady series books that I have read. It is only the second one, and tells of the election where Joanna gets to be sheriff despite her lack of experience. There are two dead bodies early in the story. One is actually a skeleton, and his identity clears up some gaps for several people involved. Joanna's nine year old daughter Jennifer is scared that her mother might be killed--as her father was.
