Love it for all the reads I'M NOW LOOKING FORWARD TO... and hate it for it's going to make me go bankrupt AGAIN!! lol

I have to say, I wasn't all that impressed with Christine Feehan. I've read the first 2 or 3 and I just can't get into them.
Love Twilight, love J R Ward, Sookie Stackhouse, Outlander...and totally agree about Laurell k Hamilton
Thank you for this list!!!

Morganville is good too.

And I think they might be counting the Hunger Games as fantasy. Even though it isn't really.

Again, THANK YOU!!!! "
twilight is the best book ever!

So many sub-genres, probably too many to classify properly. It's not the first time I've seen "dark" romance clumped together with "paranormal." Maybe they think Christian Gray is a monster.
Anyone else a Kresley Cole fan? I LOVE HER BOOKS. I've read JR Ward, Gena Showalter, Diana Gabaldon, Karen Marie Moning, and a few others, but Kresley Cole is my absolute favorite (JR Ward is a close second). Cole's books are smart, funny, and ADDICTIVE.

Agreed! If you like those, you should try Ward's Fallen series and Midnight Breed series if you haven't yet!

Black Dagger ..."
is it that good? Should I try it?

It was a long and unusual name with like 3 letter "K's" in it.

The following books have been deleted. I have listed what I determined to be the primary genre categorization for the book after its title. I'm sure many of these are wonderful books, so if you'd like to vote for them again, please do so on a more appropriate list or create a new one in which it will fit.
For not being romance:
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (YA Fantasy)
Fables of the Reconstruction (Horror/Erotica)
Storm Front (The Dresden Files, #1) (Urban Fantasy)
Switch! (Kingdoms of Karibu #1) (YA Fantasy)
Galactic Energies by Luca Rossi (Sci-fi/Erotica)
Crashing Down to Earth (Part One) by Terry Reid (PNR Fantasy/Adventure)
Stars and Satellites by Terry Reid (PNR Fantasy/Adventure)
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas (Historical Fiction)
The Grand Delusion (Manufactured Identity #2) by Heath Sommer (Mystery)
The Last Prophet (Christian Fiction)
The Manufactured Identity (Manufactured Identity, #1) by Heath Sommer (Mystery)
For not being paranormal or fantasy:
Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) (Contemporary Romance)
Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful #1) (Contemporary Romance)
Born in Sin (Brotherhood/MacAllister #3) by Kinley MacGregor (Historical Romance)
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden (Historical Fiction/Romance)
Thanks for helping keep this list accurate and relevant.

Just like Hunger Games.
They are clearly dystopian Science Fiction books.

Which book is Remote Control? :-)

Thanks for this list. I noticed The Secret needs to be removed and some more books. Divergent is back again.

Julianna, I'm still sorry that someone deleted series books from the list. I wish I had seen the list before that happened!

Thanks for the heads up, Autumn. I'm going to try to work on the list again soon.

Marla, I totally agree with you there. I know for a fact that some authors game the system in that respect, hoping to get more exposure for their books. Until the GR powers that be decide to change the rules, I guess we'll have to live with an imperfect voting system.
Thanks for the sympathy. I wish you'd seen the list earlier too. It was a whole lot different two and a half years ago than it is now, but I've resigned myself to the fact that it will probably never be the same again. Some extremely popular books, like the BDB series are starting to make a come-back, but others, like the Dark-Hunters still haven't yet. There are some Listopias that specify to only add the first book if it's part of a series, and somehow, I think the person who made the deletions got the mistaken impression they all should be that way, a very careless mistake on their part. Oh well... at least I heard they had their librarian privileges revoked. Apparently my list wasn't the only one they hit.

Please forgive me if this is not appropriate to post here. Personally I find it very difficult to find the types of books I like to read, so I often look at different lists. If some people are messing with systems, that makes it even harder to find what we are looking for. I don't know... something is missing from all this.

As an indie author myself, I understand why these authors do this, but I personally don't support the idea because it somehow feels dishonest to me. I would love to see GR do something like Marla was mentioning earlier, where a book can't have more Listopia votes than it has GR ratings. Even though it wouldn't completely stop these kind of shenanigans, it would put another layer of protection in there and make it seem more fair, IMHO.
It may be an imperfect system, but I think you'll still find a lot of good books to read by looking at these lists. You might just want to beware of any books that have more votes than GR ratings, but they're still a pretty small percentage of the total books on most lists. From what I can tell the vast majority of books on the lists that I maintain appear to have honest votes from actual readers.

Hmmm... I haven't encountered a whole lot of intolerance here on GR, so maybe you are hanging out in the wrong places. LOL! Actually I find GR to be a much more tolerant place than the Amazon discussion boards, which is where I migrated from seven years ago. All my long-time friends who came with me from Amazon, as well as most of the ones I've met since then are very respectful of other's opinions. However, I'll admit that I haven't been as active in recent years as I was in the beginning, and GR has been growing by leaps and bounds since then. With that kind of exponential growth, you're bound find some very opinionated people and rabid fans of certain books/authors who may not be as friendly if you don't agree with them. If you want some suggestions on forums where people treat each other respectfully, you might want to check out some of the groups I belong to.

As for the harshness, I have not experienced any, just the comments that I read on book here and there... a few (a lot) are quite, um, vehement, to say the least! (lol)

Yeah, I do run into those types of comments myself sometimes, usually on the more popular books like Twilight or Fifty Shade of Gray. Readers seem to be extremely polarized on these books and I'm sure there are plenty of others like them too. I've even personally taken a few hits on my positive review of Twilight. I always try to respond respectfully and reasonably, which so far has worked to defuse the situation, but I know a lot of people get very emotionally wrapped up in their reading material and can't seem to take that step back. Unfortunately, in my experience that's something you'll find almost anywhere you go.

I find the best discussions and most respectful disagreements are usually in buddy reads in a "nice" group. So, I tend to discuss my controversial views in that safe area. (Not that I'm controversial or overly opinionated, but sometimes you don't have to be to draw fire from a cyber bully.)

Read City of Bones, oh my gosh it is amazing. there is a reason why it's third on the list.

Best Ever Contemporary Romance Books
Favorite Historical Romance Novels

I also found the Phantoms series by Kelly Moran on this list. I haven't read it, but it appears to have excellent ratings so might be worth checking out. It starts with Ghost of a Promise.
Here's another one you might try: The Body Finder
If you dig around on the list, you may find more, or perhaps someone else can recommend something. I know they aren't as common as vampires and shifters, but I've seen others books with ghosts and psychics. I just can't remember them off the top of my head.
