Hi Shelley wrote: "Harry Potter is an AWESOME series - but Twilight is equally so. There is a lot of action and romance that holds a readers attention."

Nope, the only action in the Twilight Saga was in Eclipse.

Erin Book wrote: "I <3 Harry Potter! I have never read twilight. Is it good?"
I wouldn't recommend it; there's a lot of problems with the main romantic relationship, and the writing isn't great.

message 1007: by bookgirl (new)

bookgirl Oh. I didn't know. My friends talk about it sometimes but not much. I didn't know if I should interested or not.

Kandiee Uduak There's a new book you've got to check out. I saw it on Amazon and just finished it. It's crazy. It's called sister in white by Mfonemana .u. Ekene. I've never seen magic take such a turn. And the book's only been out a week!

message 1019: by Nitzan (new)

Nitzan Schwarz Someone needs to clean this list up, because it says "Best Young Adult Books" but there are a TON of NA and Adult books in here. Seriously, I hate when people vote without considering the list itself...

message 1020: by Rockito (new)

Rockito Pretty bad list. Few good books.

message 1021: by Julie (new)

Julie Agree with Nitzan above. I removed all my votes from this list as it stopped being a Teen/Young Adult list. A good majority of the books on this list are either for children or adults and were not written with YA's in mind at all.

message 1022: by Jesse (new)

Jesse Generic as it may seem, I have to go with The Hunger Games.

message 1023: by Megan (new)

Megan Vampire Academy will forever be one of my all time favorite series.

Marce Ostoic Fablehaven should be much higher. Such a great book, I love them all!!

M.C. Queen "The Monster Exorcist" was actually a pretty great book. You guys should check it out if you get the chance.

message 1026: by Mary (new)

Mary Ann If you love to read, try Regina (the Delengrad trilogy).

Me and you both.

message 1028: by Erin (new)

Erin Can someone remove The Giving Tree from this? I've got nothing against the book, but it's children's, not young adult.

message 1029: by Bre (new)

Bre Gillaspie Do any of you know a really good book I should read that is on the lines of dystopia. I have a few that I ordered but once I finish those, I don't know what else to read.

message 1030: by Bre (new)

Bre Gillaspie Mfonemana wrote: "twilight, harry potter and so on are the classics, agreed. but those still talking about it like it came out yesterday don't know the joy of reading a new book and are all probably not proficient r..."

Well, just because people read older books and "talk about it like it came out yesterday" doesn't mean there're not proficient readers. They probably just read them because that's there favorite type of book. We all have our favorite types of books like your are newer ones. Personally, I love all types of books new or older, that doesn't mean I'm not a proficient reader. Anyways, If that's really what you feel, go ahead, but I'm just saying. <3 :)

message 1034: by Kay (new)

Kay *Sigh* Why is Twilight here? I am really getting sick of seeing it on every YA list. We are talking about books that are actually good, yes? Not just books that were commercially successful?

Kay Rebecca wrote: "Kay wrote: "*Sigh* Why is Twilight here? I am really getting sick of seeing it on every YA list. We are talking about books that are actually good, yes? Not just books that were commercially succes..."

I find that depressing as well. I actually hated vampires for a time because of Twilight, though I got to liking them again thanks to the Elder Scrolls. Even so, they are becoming over-hyped and misrepresented as "creatures of angst." 'Salem's Lot is a breath of fresh air.

I admit to liking the Hunger Games, but I agree it shouldn't be anywhere near the top, let alone at #1. In comparison to really good YAs, the Hunger Games is just okay. I would think the Chronicles of Narnia, the Outsiders, To Kill and Mockingbird, and other books like that would be on top.

I like the Outsiders too. Instant classic, as far as I'm concerned.

I've read the first one, but it was years ago. Still, I remember enjoying it, and would recommend it, especially if you like Harry Potter (seeing as how I was a huge Potter nut back when I read it).

message 1044: by Salami (new)

Salami In regards to Twilight, it's here and near the top of the list because it's a Young Adult list. I read it as a teenager and loved it to death. I was crazy obsessed, and it clearly was not healthy. However, now that I'm past that stage, I look back at cringe at my past self. It definitely captures the hearts of young adults but come back in five years and tell me that you still love it as much.

I've recently reading Harry Potter on the other hand and really love it.

Never feel ashamed to say you like twilight. You're not alone. I love it and I'm voting for it.

MY ultrapositive review on twilight. I know it's not perfect, it used to be a 3 stars, but I'm tired of people who think they know better to bully on the fans!

Amazingly enough, most recommendations are for similar books.
