I finished Princess Diaries, I love the books :P

Not anymore!!
And before, it's because Goodreads is crowded with illiterate teenagers.

no offence but don't you have any other good books to discuss than twi... and harry....???

and The Hunger Games also!!! :)) I have the set of The Hunger Games :)) i love the book...
HP is better than Twi. The Hunger Games is better than Twi...therefore HP is the best and Twi is a crap thing!!!!!

i agree 100% can't someone like both books the same. they are completely different. i loved reading twilight and now im reading harry potter and they are both really good.

Books better than twilight..
HP - no argument J.K. is the greatest writer in modern literature.
Hunger Games Trilogy - Suzanne Collins
Kate Daniels Series - Ilona Andrews
Queen's Thief series - Megan Whalen Turner
Graceling - Kristin Cashore
Study Trilogy - Maria V. Snyder
and too many to mention.

But Harry Potter?
Nothing can ever beat Harry Potter. There wasn't just some teenager falling for a vampire because it was forbidden and blahblahblah. Harry Potter had something in it for everyone. The first two were more for younger kids and as the readers got older so did the characters. those books had a place in your heart while twilight, well Edward's gonna be forgotten in 3 years time. Sorry to break it to you twilight-lovers but twilight is just a phase, it's already fading. Harry Potter? Well those books will last forever among all of the other favorites..
The Hunger Games? i liked them. Not so much the last but the entire trilogy was more enjoyable to me then twilight. Katniss was stronger, i loved that. Though fans of The hunger games and twilight should check out harrypotter. Once you get to the third, youll really appreciate how some authors can really make those fantasy worlds come true.

but yes, I like the books alot. they are pretty good.
Dont turn them down just cause you hated the movie or hate all the hype. trust me.
I personally LOVE Coraline, The giver and the book theif. great reads.
Harry Potters pretty good too, but I only like every other book. hated chamber of secrets. but thats just me.

But its kinda slow in parts.
and Twilight has its flaws.
for instance, sparkly vampires? okay, in the book it wasnt as bad as in the movie but I'm a HUGE buffy the vampire slayer supporter, its my favorite TV show, and hey, they burst into flame which makes it AWESOME.
(for the record, Buffy is a billion times better then twilight)

I'm with you. twilight's only main theme is saving the hopeless princess (bella). i mean is there anything else going on?

Matched by Ally Condie (reminded me of the Uglies series Farenheit 451 and a little bit of the Giver. In Entertainment Weekly >obsessed with that magazine< they said it was like the hunger games but i didn't see that much in it. Yea it takes place in the future and there is a love triangle but come on. How many freaking YA books have we all read recently that have love triangles? I personally liked it >it gets good half way through< and recommend it to anyone who liked the hunger games or the series i mentioned above)
Across the Universe by Beth Revis (I loved Across the Universe! it was on B&N homepage for nearly two weeks before it came out, so I thought i'd check it out. I bought it last week and finished it the night i got it! It's a mix between sci fi and dysotopian.)
Pathfinder by Orson Scott Card (I'm not even done with this book yet but I love it so much. I don't think I'm even half way through, but i'm just going to take it really slowly because chances are the book i read next is going to suck anyway... Apparently a lot of guys have read it. In half of my classes all the guys who like to read are all "Yea That book was really good!" So I guess if you're a guy looking for stuff to read in the YA section you should read it.)
Red Riding Hood (It's a movie which comes out in Feb/Mar 2011 and the book is adapted on the screenplay. The book was really good and you can tell that the author really got into the whole story. I can't wait until the movie comes out now because I really liked the book)
HAPPY READING PPLS

Yea, the media killed it for me. I loved twilight in '07. Eclipse was -in my opinion- the best and for months me and my friends were kind of obsessed with it. But then 2008 happened. Twilight exploded. Everywhere. And i hated the last one! Where was the action? Where was... well, something else? I just wish Stephenie Meyer ended the series differently. I wouldn't even had minded if someone died, and i'm a sucker for happy endings! (no pun intended) I don't hate them I like the 3rd and 1st very much. But the last books of series always have that last effect. When you think back to a series, I'm sure you think of some of the main plots in the first few, but it's really what the ending was which stays in your mind. And I didn't think she did her best for the last one.
I always liked Harry Potter but after Twilight exploded I went on acrazy HP rampage and read it once a month for half of the school year. I dont know why. I didn't like the second either, I think I did the first time I read it (i was like eight) but rereading it after the eighth time it was the one i least looked forward too. Loved the 3rd and the 6th (hated the 6th movie :p)

Like i said before, MR and THG rock"
I'm trying to figure out what DH is...

Wicked and Crusade series by Debbie Vigue and Nancy Holder. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.
L. J. Smiths books are pretty popular, especially her Dark Visions, Nightworld and Vampire Diaries series (Vampire Diaries was adapted into a show on the CW).The Immortal Nicholas Flamel series(its something liek that.. whatever the first was called the alchemyst) by Michael Scott. Gone series by Michael Grant. Pathfinder and the Enders Game series by Orson Scott Card. I am number four by Pittacus Lore. Beastly and a Kiss in Time by Alex Flinn. Some Obvious ones: maxium Ride by James Patterson (The first three are great but his last few have disappointed me.)eragon by Christopher Paolini. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
I know it's half a year since it was posted, but it's never too late, right!

thank you! i HATE belladosen't know what 2 do with she life. She NEED A MAN a REAL MAN!!!!

amen

well, honestly those books arent much better.
Halo was kind of a drag and the main character was too soft.
The fallen series is ok.. but at the end of fallen it was just "oh btw u two have been in love over and over again so your going to fall in love again." and then in torment they were just arguing the whole time, that was kind of stupid.
And the first 3 maximum ride books were good but now theyre really crappy. James Patterson completely lost his focus on the main plot and nows putting all this stupid stuff into the books. I miss the old ones.
And Beautiful Creatures is so slow. It takes forever to get into them, which probably turns a lot of readers off.
Look, I read these books and liked them to a point, but Harry Potter and Twilight are better. Did you ever to stop and think that maybe everyones "caught up" with them is because they are actually pretty good? Why do you think everyones arguing about them?
Harry Potter and Twilight are better then those series. You probably didnt even read them anyway and just dont like them because of how much popularity they get. Next time you want to call good series crappy why dont you recommended better books?

No. No it is not. Twilight is not written nearly as well as Harry Potter, nor are its characters nearly as fleshed out and interesting. It's just not a better book. You might enjoy it more, but it's not a better book and you should admit that.

Artemis Fowl is definitely one of the most entertaining book series I've ever read.

"Even if Twilight is very popular right now, people won't rememeber it in about 20 years like they remember things like Dracula and to Kill A Mockingbird" It's just not that well written... I'm not trashing, I'm just pointing out the obvious.

Ned Vizzini is amazing! ^.^

yes! this is totally true:) i definitely agree

I'm glad you do! ^^

that is sooooooooo true!!!

Are you daft? I mean, seriously. What exactly makes Twilight better than Harry Potter.. Oh and, ..."
Ha, Twilight better than Harry Potter. I've read both of them and let me tell you, you just can't compare them. I totally agree with you Avreyna.

Thats really unbelievable,,I think you might be the first person I have heard day that.
