J.K. Rowling is a more experiences author than Stephanie Meyer but the stories are completely different there are no similarities what so ever other than they are both in a fantasy world but Harry Potter was based in a way earlier time than Twilight i think that people can relate to Bella a bit more than they can relate to Harry, Harmione, and Ron. None of us are Wizards or ever will be we can relate to the bit of Drama and jelousness when Ron thinks Harry and Harmione have a "thing". Or if anyone has been orfaned and maybe even had to live with people that werent to crazy about them. maybe someone even had their parents murdered and wanted vengance on them. but still that hasnt happened to tht many people and if someone was being locked in a broom closet there are social services that would take care of that issue. Bella is more of an ordinary teen/ young adult. Im sure at least once in all of our lives we have felt ugly or underserveing of our lover. And even a bit self concience. I mean Bellas parents are divorved and she has to amke the decision to move away from everything she is familiar with in with her dad just to let her mom be free and happy. there is alot of typical teen stuff Bella's story allows readers to relate to. Personally I am a huge fan of both Harry and Bella!!! I am one of the crazy dressed up screaming fans at every movie premire for both. My town even had "Harry Potter Nights" Our whole town would get dressed up and eveery shop would be selling something it trubute for Harry, We would do this for the new book premiers then we would all watch the newest DVD in the yard of our court house.
Excuse my crappy spelling :)

and i guess i kind of agree with wat u r saying, i just enjoy reading harry potter more than twilight. because i feel like i can always read harry potter again and again, since theres sooo much detail in it i couldnt possibly remember everything, whereas twilight its a smaller series and i cant see myself rele wanting to read it over and over again.and i think the movies have kind of ruined the books for me also.

I AGREE! judy blume books are always an exciting read!!

totally with u

I'm with you Maya!!!"
I love harry potter!!!!!!!!!!! Ican not stress that enough!!!!!! I read each book more than ten times, i lived in Germany for 7 months and the library had sooooooo many copies of the Harry Potter books. I had read them before, i started reading them when i was about 5 yrs old. Ieven read them in German. I hated Twilight. I will never set my eyes on the book ever again. It had a rediculous plot. Compared to J.K Rowling's books, Twilight is a childish book with very shallow characters.

The characters in Twilight were soooooo shallow. I am a HUGE fan of Harry Potter. I really very absolutely dislike Twilight

ps-theyre coming out with a movie in march of 2012 so read fast

Are you daft? I mean, seriously. What exactly makes Twilight better than Harry Po..."
Harry Potter is soooooo much better!

again i am stunned at the amazing number of people who prefer useless adverbs, annoying repetition, shameless selfishness and plotless books over some books so fictional yet so meaningful.
the world should worship your kind, you twilight fans are a different breed of douchebags.

They're the worst books I've ever read!"
i know! harry potter will forever better twilight!

LMAO!!!! but u r totaly right! i cant believe i actually read twilight!!!!! i will never forgive myself...

Well if you didn'tt notice, Harry Potter wasn'tt the first wizardd book either.(;
I like twilight but harry potter was much better (AS a book.)
The twilight movies so far have stuck to the story. Don't get me wrong, the first few harry potter films were AMAZing, but then they started going of the plot. I remember watching the 6th film and was like: what the hell?
But still I agree harry potter is still the best but i prefer it on paper.

then i read harry potter and was glued... no other book was better than it. I read so many other books but none were as good as harry potter until i came across the hunger games. it pawns harry potter and twicrap

That's not how you spell Twilight
HARRY POTTER IS THE BEST..no questions asked...
i am reading The Giver though currently , and i think so far its great, love the Utopian Community idea, makes you really think..
Hunger Games..intense, one of those books that keeps you on the edge, i remember being in bed reading till 1:00 in the morning, telling myself to go to sleep but then something incredible would happen in the book and the next thing i knew it was 2:00 am...
About this whole harry potter vs twilight thing..coming from a harry potter fan, twilight is OK, but...let me just put it this way...
"..Harry Potter is all about confronting fears, finding inner strength, and doing what is right in the face of adversity. Twilight is about how important it is to have a boyfriend.." ...so, yup..i don't really know who said that, BUT I AGREE!!!

I've thought about reading them, but I've heard alot of bad rumors about it...

It's based on preference... sort of.
>____< Personally, I can't stand whiny, needy protagonists... or love stories, so Harry Potter always has my vote. ;P

I'M WITH YA!!!

1.twilight the book was waayy better than the movie.
2.the harry potter books are never better than the movies

I'm prolly a lil' late in saying this, but if you want books that can hold attention and in which the series are complete, most of Tamora Pierce's novels will do, and then there is Chima's "The Warrior Heir" and it's sequels.
