Occult Library

occult (adj.) 1530s, "secret, not divulged," from Middle French occulte and directly from Latin occultus "hidden, concealed, secret," past participle of occulere "cover over, conceal," from assimilated form of ob "over" (see ob-) + a verb related to celare "to hide," from PIE root *kel- (2) "to cover, conceal, save." Meaning "not apprehended by the mind, beyond the range of understanding" is from 1540s. The association with the supernatural sciences (magic, alchemy, astrology, etc.) dates from 1630s.

When I think of occult, I think about a sort of magic...

Brother Moloch Sadly some people have zero clue as to what constitutes useful occult material to study and recommend things that are weird.

Hard to trust a spiritual authority living in their parent's basement.
Crowley was a leech on his disciples - he used and abused them yet guys like you give him a pass. Today a spiritual teacher tries to pull what Crowley did, all hell would break loose. Besides which, most folk practitioners aren't interested in "Psychological MagicK" which is what modern ceremonial magicK has degraded to. Folk magic teaches one to build a solid foundation including finances so that the practitioner does not have to worry where their next meal is coming from because not everyone has the opportunity, financial wherewithal nor mental capability to get higher education. Ceremonial MagicKians tend to peer down their noses at folk magicians aka Thaumaturgists and that's rather sh*tty if you ask me. It's just another way guys like you can be a snob and bully others "Oh it's all about $$$" well FYI the prices of everything is going UP and salaries are staying stagnant.

Oh, no no. That's okay.

My problem is the misplacement of Spirituality and Esoteric books which like one here in this list would better fit in Lists for Aromatherapy or Religion for example.

I also did find Fiction and rather non-occult Biographies in this List.

Brother Moloch Wholeheartedly agreed. Thus why I said some of these choices are weird. I too think of "magic" or rather sorcery aka thaumaturgy when it comes to the occult. Many of these choices could be put into the New Age list.

The New Age is too watered down with sentiment and feelings instead of useful teachings for my taste. It focuses on everything must be "good, righteous, pure, & unsullied" and to my way of thinking, that's imbalanced. Because life itself is not fair, it is more often than not cruel, harsh and chaotic. IMO, one should use the right spell, ritual or ceremony to counteract the issue, not just some "feel good" notion.
