elissa The first 18 books on this list used to be in alphabetical order, and were the original DCPL teen fantasy list, which I had the major responsiblity for creating. The only books on the original list that I haven't read are HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE (although I love the movie), and the HOBBIT GN. TITHE is one that I've read that I wasn't absolutely crazy about, but the trilogy has been popular, so I wanted to include it. I'm adding TWILIGHT to the original list for the same reason. All of the other 15 on the original list are ones that I am personally absolutely ga-ga over!

Erin Hey Elissa,

Is there a DCPL science fiction list? Because I keep thinking of books and going "Oh wait, technically that's SF, not fantasy."

Erin Why do my comments keep going away?

message 4: by elissa (new)

elissa Yes, I posted DCPL's SF list yesterday, too. I'll send you an invite to vote on that, too. Do you mean the comments for individual books? If so, that's never worked that well for me, either. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Comments in this section always seem to work, though, so you could write some things down here.

elissa I actually meant to put IMPOSSIBLE on yesterday, but forgot. Glad you added it, Erin! I like FIRE AND HEMLOCK a lot, too. I think I had HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE as one of the original 18 because June thought that would be better on the list. She's a big fantasy reader, too, so I had her look at it.

Yea, those were the ones I meant. I'm glad it's not just me, but it's still weird. Thanks for the SF invite!

Adam um, the city of ember is great but its not fantasy

message 8: by elissa (new)

elissa Adam~I think you could make a case for CITY OF EMBER being either fantasy and/or science fiction.

message 9: by Adam (new)

Adam Maybe, but I mean it is in the future, dystopia, trying to rebel. Thats more science fiction than fantasy though.

message 10: by Cl (new)
