I read this historical romance book that was pretty good but I can't remember the title or one of the main characters name so I'll post what I do remember:
The main character was a French aristrocrat girl named Ariadne(i think). She was supposed to be married to this British Lord (Insert name here) but the rumors about him were so scary and horrible, she steals her older brothers armor and runs away to become a knight.
Maybe it's fate because she ended up the guard of a girl who is eating constantly. Unfortunately the girl is about to get married and to the same guy she left at the altar years ago. So she has to guard the girl all the way to her former grooms friends' castle. Where her secrets gets discovered and........

How in the world did Twilight get on there?!?!?!?!? I am furious! *seethe*

Yeah! DELETE it !!!

I think they got it from the idea that Edward's constantly seeing Bella as lunch.
Though, Twilight's a cheap rip off of Pride and Prejudice rather than Beauty and the Beast, so I really have to wonder why it's so high up on this list.

And did you include the original Cupid and Psyche story? It's not really a separate item as such, but it's part of The Golden Ass by Apuleius.

Completely disagree. As the book is set in reality, and Rochester himself is not very beastly, Jane is not hideous, either. She is a talented artist and intelligent, and that is what makes her beautiful, just as Rochester's dark life is what makes him a beast. Jane Eyre belongs on this list.

Plus how the hell does she get me to fall in love with lizard men and lich kings!!?? I haven't read any of her other books yet. I might need an emotional break before starting another (I needed one after reading LHG). Plus I'm not sure if I'm ready to get all emotionally involved with any more weird monster characters again... just yet. I'm pretty sure someone said that the aliens in Cottonwood look like cockroaches! I'll hold of on that one for a bit! Still got the lich king romance all up in my head...

This fits: Lord of the Abyss

Absolutely! Jane is one of those rare characters who carry such an amount of inner-beauty. And as for her appearence, Robin McKinley 's Honour (Beauty) also posseses inner beauty than just pretty looks.
Beauty lies in one's personality.
I voted for Jane Eyre.
In this light, Wuthering Heights is a weak choice. Catherine Earnshaw is not a "beauty".

The same is true of East by Edith Pattou.

Thank you! Yeah they're right though. Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow is a retelling of East of the Sun and West of the Moon which is a Norwegian fairy tale, not widely know, but one of my all time favorites.
